Experts Recommend Lightning Protection Design Systems by LEC

Every flash of lightning is potentially carrying millions of volts of electricity. Contrary to popular opinion, lightning can strike anywhere repeatedly, it doesn’t always strike tall buildings and even can strike up to 80 kilometres away from the point of impact. LEC can protect your business from lightning strikes by providing a lightning protection design system.

Since June of 1971 LEC has been actively marketing a system guaranteed to prevent lightning strikes to the protected area. This system is called the Dissipation Array System because of the operational concept by which it performs that function.

You might wonder how this state of the art patented technology by Lightning Eliminators & Consultants, Inc. (LEC) works?

Let’s look at the basic layout of a lightning protection design system.

The DAS working on Charge Transfer System (CTS) mostly consists of these assemblies:

  • One or more Ionizer: The CTS gathers the induced current developed by thunderstorm clouds from a selected threatened area on the ground then transfers this charge through the ionizer into the nearby air. The ionizers offer a medium for point discharge to occur.
  • Down Conductors: At least two down conductors are placed in a structure. The down conductors provide the electrical connection between the charge collector and the ionizers.
  • Charge Collectors: The charge collector is an interconnected network of grounding electrodes and conductor developed to collect and conduit electrical charge to the ionizers.

Why choose LEC for lightning protection design products for your solution?

  • Equipment effectiveness
  • Test and validation capabilities
  • Manufacturing acumen
  • Reduced installation and purchasing cost
  • Internal research and development
  • Global availability and engineering support
  • Track record of excellence

At LEC, the lightning protection design is prepared by our qualified engineers, while the design documents are signed by a system designer. Our state-of-the-art design complies with specified quality assurance (QA) requirements and in industry safety standards.

Additionally, our manufactured products, especially those working on the Charge Transfer Technology come with a ‘no strike warranty’.

The most important aspect of understanding in lightning protection design is that – not only a direct lightning strike acts as a potential threat to the structure but also more frequently, electronic equipment is damaged by surges caused by remote lightning discharges.
